Today I employed the weed whacker, push mower, and chain saw. To top it off, I also played barber and gave my spouse a haircut.
Now, I am resting, looking forward to sharing in the joy of the Stanley Cup returning to Denver. Some days are just riddled with accomplishment. Go Avs!
Dandelions. God’s creation for which the sole purpose is to entertain little children.
My little charge honed right in on those fluffy weeds, probably because I have a meadow rife with them. It was delightful to watch her pick them and have them fly away, and yet, she remained determine to ”catch one.”
Okay…they do have other purposes apparently: tea, nutritious greens, wine, and other fine qualities. One little seed from a dandelion can start 200 or more plants. I’m pretty sure we aided in that production yesterday, dispersing puff balls on the wind. I probably should cultivate them? Be adventurous, as my worm garden pal.
Nah. I’ll just enjoy the entertainment value for now.
My dear friend, ”Panita,” has adopted some friendly guys to help her with composting. I don’t think she’s named them yet but they are working hard for her. What impresses me most is her constant search for new adventures – and this is one adventure I admire, though have not adopted.
Okay. There are lots of other “coolest moms ever” out there. Apparently foosball tables burden other homes, waiting for that magical day when children will return to retrieve them.
I’m just taking consolation in being a cruciverbalist for now. (Person who enjoys or is skilled at solving crosswords.) I don’t claim the skill, just the enjoyment.
What a delightful word to throw into conversation. Off to attempt a little cruciverbalism as I gaze upon the beauty of the arcade game gracing the front porch.
It would have been fun to explore the famous site, newly planted in Parker. My friend and I chose to take a little ”someone” on an exploratory trip there. While “Pann” had a few finds, I spent my discovery tour letting my granddaughter push the cart, because two other children we were following were pushing carts. Could she sit like the other little girl? No. She could not. She had to follow the little five-year old pushing his sister.
I did manage to get some bananas towards the end, but only because my driving buddy paid for them. I have to say, the little one is a pretty good driver for handling such a big rig.
And if anyone thinks children are not paying attention to the bigger picture, they are definitely mislead!
In one fell swoop, my son and I cobbled together the Pinterest project sitting in the garage since our window replacement two years ago! Illuminated by the full moon, it now awaits its use. And what will that be?
It’s too hot to put actual plants in there – they’ll burn. It’s too early to stick a Christmas tree in there. (Another Pinterest idea.) For now, it is a fun consideration and that purpose is worthy.
The concerts at the Botanic Gardens allow food and drink. Most people bring a little cooler with their supplies, a blanket upon which to reside, and take a minimal amount of space so as to allow others room to picnic.
This was our ”picnic.” No skimping here – gluten free Thai chicken wraps, individual servings of fruit and vegetables, Trader Joe’s entire snack selection of nuts and dried fruit, chocolate molten lava cake brownies and sugar cookies, breads, crackers, dip, popcorn and fizzy drinks. (Even pickled okra!) We had so much we offered the security guards food, as well as other people gawking at our spread. Only one person had the audacity to be choosy. When offered a wrap he queried, ”Do you possibly have shrimp?”
I’m guessing very few people have gone to lunch with two geranium plants?
I relished the opportunity to walk into a restaurant carrying my friend’s plant this past weekend. We had just spent the morning at the Farmer’s Market, and quite frankly, it was too hot to leave the gorgeous purchases in the car. When asked if we wanted a booth, I could only say, ”We need a table for these plants.”
Once again, I think giving others fodder for conversation at dinner is probably a good thing. Mind you, it’s not my life’s goal, but it is something I consider when I am toting geraniums into a restaurant.
