Accomplishments

My friend was musing yesterday while we chatted at our acceptable distance. “What are we going to say we did with our time when this is over?” I was considering the fact that I could have learned a new language by now – but haven’t. And those salsa lessons didn’t pan out.

So, what knowledge am I acquiring?

  • I can sew a mask in under ten minutes now
  • 26 gnomes is enough
  • I don’t necessarily enjoy cleaning door knobs daily
  • Most of my hats are black
  • Zoom reminds me of the Brady Bunch intro
  • We can still travel online to beautiful cathedrals and churches for Mass
  • Naps can be an essential part of a routine
  • Squirrels will always find their way to our home
  • Postal delivery people are risking their lives on a lot of junk mail
  • Laundry never goes away

and this is the sun’s birthday; this is the birth
day of life and of love and wings: and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

breathing any—-lifted from the no

A Crappy Dresser

Lots of great ideas have passed through this mind. (Debatable?) Maybe one of them is sitting out in the garage right now, waiting for a Sawz-all job and repainting.

Yesterday I picked up a free crappy dresser with broken drawers. Gloved and masked, my spouse and I were on a mission: find a project for me in order to continue avoiding spring cleaning. My project is on my Pinterest page in the guise of a coffee bar. However, it will not be used for coffee, nor will it be a bar. It will just look like the photo and be painted bright yellow and be a cheerful addition to the front porch, left for the elements to destroy in a couple of years.

As an English major in college, I am used to choosing a “theme” for whatever undertaking beckons. This year, the theme for the porch is “lemons.” “Americana” has gone by the wayside as the aforementioned elements destroyed most of what I had, including the wicker furniture. This new theme in no way obliterates the “Year of the Camel” theme, fellow theme-aficionados. That would be what we call an “over-arching” theme. “Lemons” is merely the sub-theme.

Oh, save me from myself, dear Lord!

The Bigger They Are…

Or maybe the smaller? I could not get on my blog site this morning. Something was afoot in the technology world. Perhaps I will have to post later in the day when the world is more relaxed.

I love this comic which my mother sent. I have to say, I am missing sports in some way. (Thank goodness we have reruns for our napping convenience!) Tonight we shall enjoy the 1995 Celts vs. the Pistons game. That was a monumental moment, wasn’t it?

Admin Updates

You’ll notice the administration of this blog has introduced an exciting new feature: Earring of the Day. Why? Because poetry doesn’t always cut it.

Sometimes there are interesting stories to go with the adornment. I can always remember where I purchased or received jewelry! It’s much like the way my husband knows every shot he takes on every hole on every golf course in every game at every known destination. Or the way any bridge player remembers the exact card misplayed in a game, whether by their partner or self!

Anyway, these are from the Great Ocean Road in Australia. The little tourist information hut had about ten things for sale. These said, “I am yours, Rene.”

Happy earrings for my walking adventure, along with my waving palm branch! Happy Holy Week.

Glitches

First of all…if you go to the website you can see the cool video I posted yesterday of me (ahem) doing a wheelie on my Honda 100. It really is my bike, I reiterate. Go to: Heyrenejtoday.com for a riveting clip.

Second…I offer this ode to the one person stuck with all of our computer glitches this past week, particularly one night.

Ode To Thursday Night

Help, Help! My computer’s died!
I think there is a nasty virus inside.
But first you need to help your dad,
he’s backing-up the files he had.

Why is the wi-fi so darn slow?
Where did all my pictures go?
Someone’s trying to hack my mail.
I’m hoping you can get on that trail.

Change my passwords right this minute.
There’s a project on Pinterest, I want to pin it!
Okay, good, I’m back online.
Things are looking mighty fine.

Where would we be without you, Son?
I know if you weren’t here,
     you’d be having more fun!

On Second Thought

My dirt bike is a little Honda 100. I haven’t been on it for a couple of years because I wasn’t “hip” enough! When the weather was so beautiful – a couple of days ago – I decided I wanted to ride. So, I geared up in my helmet and husband’s crappy jacket just to see if I remembered how to ride.

Of course, I did think that if I happened to fall, break a bone, and had to go to the emergency room, this might not be the best time to do so. Perhaps I should wait to do something stupid until a later date?

I really do ride, and this really is my little bike. And of course, this really is me!!!
