Cliff

My daughter invited me to go to the museum for the “Infant-directed” exhibit. I had been to the Clifford Still museum twice before. I was certain I would never need to go again. However, curious and eager to experience an interactive moment with my little grand in an art museum, I agreed to go. The tickets were free.

First, we were the only visitors to this building dedicated to one artist. Second, we were followed closely by the docent – had to be. Surely they couldn’t afford to pay someone to keep an eye on three people? She made sure we knew we couldn’t touch the paintings, or run the stroller into them. We smiled politely, understanding that she had to be bored out of her skull. The “infant display?” It was a video on a 2×4 screen showing children aged one to two pointing to one of two pictures of Clifford Still’s paintings. Whichever one they pointed to first, THAT was the one displayed in the room. Genius.

We had a good laugh.

Purging

My son and I actually made a date to ”clean out the closet” in his former room. My dreams of shelves cleared of memorabilia, toys, books, were dashed shortly after we began the process. The first item to appear in our ”Does it bring you joy?” encounter, was the light saber from Star Wars. He turned it on. The following conversation ensued.

“This is really cool!”

“Wow. That is neat.”

“Gee.”

“You can’t get rid of that!”

“Nah. I’m keeping it.”

Pause.

Me: ”This is not going to go well.”

Rip-roaring laughter followed, and suffice to say, not much went by the wayside. It was a great afternoon though, and I look forward to the next time we revisit those memories.

Shelley

It’s not often that the elements, my wardrobe, and my memory cooperate. Yesterday, as fierce winds were blowing for the third day in a row, I arrived to class, flinging open the doors of the reception area. Cold air burst in with me, winds whipped my hair and scarf wildly, and I was seized by the words of Percy Bysshe Shelley. With fervor and an untamed spirit, I spewed forth the beginning of his poem, ”Ode to the West Wind.”

The receptionist was duly impressed, if not entertained. We both appreciated how tidbits from long ago seep back into our minds.

Now, if only I could remember what I had for lunch two days ago?

The Answer

Sometimes a riddle is quite simple to solve! Thanks to the ”APB” for this one. We can always use a little illumination in our lives.

Okay, Okay

My husband thought this was amazing video…and it is kind of fun.

I had a 1967 Cougar for my going-to-college vehicle. Wish I still had that one! It had the ”eyelashes” for headlights. (Actually termed, ”hidden headlights.” I did watch the video.) My parents in no way, shape, or form, wanted to retrieve me or take me to school with three other siblings in tow. So, I had a now-considered-cool car, but one with many issues.

Maybe you’ll see your mode of transport here?

Tuna Fish

The fifth week of Lent and tuna fish is wearing a little thin. I thought I’d offer a substitute from my stash of pescatarian options, in case you need to purchase the ingredients before Friday.

The Shining Moment

Let’s turn our attention to the gracious act of kindness by Lady Gaga, and the wonderful interaction between her and Liza Minelli. Gaga assisted Liza with her cue cards and her duties when she became flustered at the Academy Awards. Isn’t that worth more than dwelling on a slap in the face?

Go and throw that kindness around like confetti!

Rick Rack

Originally known as the ”waved crochet braid,” rick rack is a flat narrow woven braid in a zig zag form.

I didn’t even know if they made this modern marvel of sewing wonder. My pattern calls for it, but I hadn’t heard the term in eons. I found my notion this afternoon at the local sewing center. My choice was a lime green, extra wide roll of ”rick rack”. (I figure that will cover a multitude of stitching strikes against me.)

Almost all the elements for a cute project are acquired. Tomorrow I will try to find my motivation as I’m feeling rather sew-sew about it.

HOA President

Our Homeowner’s Association isn’t that large. That’s why it’s hard to fathom why our president is so tyrannical!

Whispers are that she is planning a summer BBQ and requiring all twenty homes to bring their own chairs and tents. She just up and wrote a grant requesting city funds to support this crazy event. If the city doesn’t come through, she expects us to “potluck” it!

Word on the street is that she is also planning impeachment proceedings for herself. Let’s hope that rumor comes to fruition. Swing by and vote her out!

Weather Whiplash

Isn’t that a clever term for the ”freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw” of spring? It’s not often I give credit to the news team for delightfully explaining anything, but I like this phrase.

That whiplash has definitely impacted the roads into our ’hood. I drive in the opposing traffic lane to avoid the deep ruts on my side as I enter my neighborhood. I do it so often, I have to remember that I’m actually in the wrong lane and oncoming cars need not move. It is my duty to return to my proper potholed lane.

Joys of spring!
